Audi has revealed an electric supercar during the Pebble Beach Automotive Week, lying at Monterey in California.
The Audi PB 18 e-tron made its debut late on Thursday with a kind of splash, having the aim to get the same rare type of air just like those supercars that are ultra-luxury, having some really powerful engines and sleek designs.
Electric vehicles do not have engines, which the sports cars have and hence they do not make the noise of windows getting rattled as they travel down the streets.
The revelation of the concept car comes up ahead of the official launch of the Audi e-tron electric production SUV in September, which is being seen as quite a serious competitor for Tesla in the segment of luxury electric vehicles.
The PB 18 e-tron will not be coming over to dealerships anytime soon, which is not the case with Audi e-tron.
Audi has described the PB 18 e-tron as part their brand new family of visionary automobiles, which ideally serves as a preview for what people can expect in the next ten years.
Like a concept car, the vehicle makes use of a powerful battery along with three electric motors to travel from o to 100 km per hour in a little over 2 seconds. This unbelievably fast acceleration would put this one among the fastest cars in the world.
Through a fully charged battery, the battery would be capable of traveling a distance of 310 miles. The battery can get fully charged through a connection of 800-volt in 15 minutes.
The vehicle can be charged in a wireless manner by the use of charging pad induction technology.
The interior of the car is designed primarily to empower track driving. Basically, this has been made to travel at real speed. Audi has designed a kind of cockpit along with a monocoque shell, which can be slid laterally so that the driver can sit at the center for complete vision and control.
The vehicle gets laser high beams, wheels of 22 inches, the brake of carbon disc, magnetic ride shock absorbers in an adaptive manner.
