Eating two apples every day helps to reduce the risk of Cholesterol

A study suggests that eating two apples every day will keep you away from cholesterol. Experts said that eating apples will lower the people’s risk of suffering from cholesterol. An experiment carried on 40 people who were suffering from high cholesterol ate two large apples daily and found that cholesterol was almost reduced by four percent. Moreover, Scientists found that people who are eating apples everyday have more relaxed blood vessels compared to others. As per researches, a small change in the daily diet may help to have a reduced risk of cholesterol and other cardiovascular diseases.  ‘bad’ cholesterol is a state where people have lower low-density lipoproteins.

Scientists believe that the fiber that lowers the production of cholesterol found in apples. This fiber produces short-chain fatty acids that lowers the risk of cardiovascular disease. An increase in cholesterol leads to high stroke or heart attack. A study found that two large apples contain a quarter of fiber that is regularly required by the body. As compared to other fruits, an apple contains a large number of natural compounds like polyphenols. Professor Julie Lovegrove, a senior author of the study from the Hugh Sinclair Unit of Human Nutrition at the University of Reading, said that the old proverb of eating an apple every day proves to be true.

Apple is one of the important and popular fruit in all types of age groups. Apples are easily available and easy to make different food items and snacks. A study carried on people with age group 20 to 70 were allowed to eat two apples. A blood sample of people tested before and after this experiment and the results were compared with people who intake apple-based drinks. Renetta Canada apples which are high in fibers used for study purpose but the same results were found with regular apples. The study, published in the Journal of Clinical Nutrition America, found that women are more benefited compared to men from two apples a day. More studies on Cholesterol are yet to confirm. The effect on cholesterol was very small compared with drug therapy with statins. So it is not clear whether this effect would lead to a decrease in heart disease or stroke.
